Set up your own blog & add your first post

Now it’s time to set up your very own personal blog to begin recording your thoughts, discoveries and exercises about Vermont’s 23 Things: the Trustee Edition. For this program, we recommend that you use Blogger* or WordPress*, popular free online blog hosting services that are easy to use.

* Using Blogger or WordPress are only recommendations. If there is another blog hosting site that you are more comfortable with, please feel free to use it.

Exercises:

  1. Watch Blogs in Plain English a little (2:58 min.) video by Common Craft.
  2. Set up a blog for yourself.
  3. Add a test post or two.
  4. You will be creating a post for each of the ‘Trustee Things‘. Please clearly label each entry in your blog by titling each post with the thing to which it refers. Each of your posts should provide insights into what you’ve discovered and learned. Feel free to share what worked for you … and what didn’t … what surprised you … what frustrated you … what amazed you.

IMPORTANT NOTE: How you choose to identity yourself on your blog is up to you. You can blog under a screen name, anonymously, or with your real name.

Register your Blog

Register your blog by sending an email with your blog’s URL to mara.siegel@state.vt.us. I will add your blog to Vermont’s 23 Things: the Trustee Edition Participant Blogs page. That way everyone can share what they are learning and ask each other questions. Your personal information will not be published anywhere on this site.
